AGENCIES, Los Angeles: The global coronavirus pandemic has brought to a halt one of the most favourite past-times of humans – watching movies. This includes the shutting down of theatres as well as cancellation and postponement of film festivals.
So, Tribeca Enterprises and YouTube have come together to showcase a unique film watching experience online during the pandemic. They have titled it We Are One: A Global Film Festival. The 10-day festival will include films from Berlin International Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival, Tokyo International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, Venice Film Festival, New York Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival, reports CNN.
“We often talk about film’s uniquely powerful role in inspiring and uniting people across borders and differences to help heal the world. All of the world needs healing right now. We Are One: A Global Film Festival unites curators, artists and storytellers to entertain and provide relief to audiences worldwide. In working with our extraordinary festival partners and YouTube we hope that everyone gets a taste of what makes each festival so unique and appreciates the art and power of film,” reads an official statement.
The festival, which will air from May 29 – June 7, can be viewed for free on YouTube but viewers will have options to donate if they want to.
