BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: The Tiguan Allspace SUV was first showcased for the Indian audience at the Auto Expo 2020 and the production version has recently been introduced for the domestic market.
Positioned for this market as a premium SUV, it was conceived alongside the 5-seater smaller Tiguan on Volkwagen’s flexible and modern MQB platform. With a wheelbase of 2,790mm (+109mm) and overall length of 4,701mm (+215mm), the SUV gets its design inspiration from a larger SUV model called Atlas that’s sold in the US only.

For now, the Tiguan Allspace will be offered in petrol-only versions that will be powered by a turbocharged 187hp 2.0-litre TSI engine when mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission as standard.
The SUV will also get the German brand’s 4Motion all-wheel drive (AWD) system.
Volkswagen claim the Tiguan Allspace offers more space than many other SUVs in its class. By folding down the second row of seats using the standard remote unlatching function from the luggage area (or directly on the backrests) it opens up a cargo space length of 1,921 mm with up to 1,920 litres of storage capacity. (gain of 265 litres over Tiguan).
The Tiguan Allspace comes equipped with an array of safety features like 7-airbags, ABS, ESP, tyre pressure monitoring system.
Premium features include LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED ambient light and LED taillights, panoramic sunroof, digital cockpit, touchscreen infotainment system with MirroLink, AppConnect, Apple CarPlay and Android AutoNew.
