AGENCIES, New Delhi: US President Donald Trump and the First Lady Melania Trump will be on a two day visit to India from February 24. Besides New Delhi, they will also be visiting Ahmedabad. Both the countries will discuss bilateral ties and also hold important talks on global issues.
The Ministry of External Affairs also confirmed the visit. “During the visit, President Trump and the First Lady will attend official engagements in New Delhi and Ahmedabad, Gujarat and interact with a wide cross section of Indian society,” a press release from the MEA announced.
According to the White House, Ahmedabad has been selected because it is in Gujarat and thus home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Also, Gujarat plays an important role in Mahatma Gandhi’s life.
India’s newly appointed Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu who had presented his credentials to Trump last week also handed over an official invitation to the President to visit India.
Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing to welcome Trump in India.
