BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: Two family members of the 66- year-old Nayabad resident, who is admitted to a private hospital on EM Bypass, and attended a wedding ceremony in Egra in East Midnapore have also tested positive for the virus. They have been admitted to the Beliaghata ID Hospital. A woman hailing from North Bengal tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday. She is reported to have a history of travelling abroad and is kept in the isolation ward of North Bengal Medical College & Hospital. With these three new cases, the number of people infected in the state jumped to 18.
Meanwhile, the health condition of the former Coal India employee, who lives in Nayabad has improved slightly on Saturday after he showed signs of responding to medicines. He was admitted to the hospital with fever and respiratory trouble and tested coronavirus positive after returning from Egra in East Midnapore last week.
Soon after, his condition started deteriorating when he was put on ventilator. His family members have been kept in isolation at the MR Bangur Hospital.
Meanwhile, the five persons of a family in Nadia’s Tehatta who tested COVID-19 positive on Friday have been admitted to the Beliaghata ID Hospital. The state health department is trying to identify the people whom these family members met in Delhi and Tehatta.
Meanwhile, the 14 doctors and the medical staff who had treated the 57-year-old Dum Dum resident who died last Sunday at AMRI hospital have been put under home quarantine. Doctors said they did not develop any symptom of coronavirus infection till now. But their swab will be tested again on Monday and then the hospital authorities will take a decision on their rejoining duties.
