AGENCIES, Mumbai: All good things come to an end, and after 39 years, Steven Spielberg is bidding adieu to Indiana Jones franchise and making way for a new director. And though the news has sent shockwaves through the world of cinema, Variety has reported that director James Mangold of Ford v Ferrari fame is in talks to direct Indiana Jones 5.
And before you think the worst, no, Harrison Ford is there on the project. According to a report in Variety, Spielberg, however will be the producer of the project. A source close to the director said that the decision rested on Spielberg and it was he who wanted a new director to bring in a fresh perspective to the story.
Indiana Jones 5 was initially announced in 2016. However, now the release date has been shifted to 2021. The first film of the Indian Jones series — Raiders of the Lost Ark — released in 1981.
