BH CORRESPONDENT, New Delhi: Volkswagen India is revising some of its product strategies and has announced that the 7-speed DSG gearbox in the Polo and Vento models will be replaced. The twin-clutch automatic transmission was mated to the 1.5-litre TDI diesel and 1.2-litre TSI petrol variants.
Under the bonnet, there is no diesel option for the Polo and Vento and the 1.2-litre TSI has been replaced by a new-generation high output 1.0-litre TSI which develops 10 PS more than the engine it replaces besides offering a higher torque of 200 Nm.
That’s not all. The 1.0-litre TSI will be offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. VW says with the 6-speed automatic transmission equipped variants will be around Rs 40k to 50k cheaper than the DS6 variant.
The base variant of the Tiguan will also benefit from the 1.0-litre TSI and 6-speed automatic powertrain set-up, while the top-end variant will retain the 1.5-litre TSI engine with the 7-speed DSG gearbox.
