BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: As the BS VI deadline approaches fast, the automotive retail fraternity had been on tenterhooks as to what would happen to unsold inventory after the BS VI deadline sets in. The market is now witnessing a huge push by retailers with attractive discounts and offers. And for some, the sun is shining as they have been cleared out their BS4 stocks.
Among winners are Maruti Suzuki which has already introduced BS VI models even before the official deadline. Market reports say early bird Maruti has sold more than five lakh BS VI units.
Honda, Ford and Toyota have also reported that they have zero BS IV inventory. In February 2020, Toyota dispatched 10,352 units of BS VI cars to its dealers.
Honda Cars India has an active calendar ahead as the new generation City will hit showrooms soon. Hyundai has also a few introductions in place with the facelifted Verna slated for market introduction on March 26. Prices of Hyundai’s second generation Creta will be officially announced on March 16.
Among strugglers are brands like Datsun, Nissan, Renault, Skoda and Volkswagen.
Very much active in the market is Hyundai that is offering massive discounts and combined offers (exchange/corporate) up to Rs. 2.50 lakh on most BS IV models.
