BH CORRESPONDENT, Mumbai: Shashank Vyas made his debut in 2010 as Jagya in Balika Vadhu. The television serial with a social message has a cult following till today. The show launched his career, alongside Avika Gor’s who played the character of Anandi.
From 2008 till 2016, the serial ran for eight years. And now when the country is under coronavirus lockdown, the show will be back on TV again.
Shashank is an established name today. And of course, he is excited that his debut show is back on TV amid lockdown. “This show has some great performances, is brilliantly written and nicely directed. It is a show which makes me nostalgic and is close to my heart. I grew up with this show as an actor. I worked on the show for five years. In such a situation, your co- actors become your family. We also have a WhatsApp group where we have shared this news. It’s a proud moment for all of us.” Shashank said.
He further added, “Jagya is not a hero of the show. He has his own limitations and some grey areas too. But that is there with every show. This is the first show where I have got a taste of success and that experience will be always dear to me. People loved Jagya because he is a boy with flaws. Working on this show was almost like going to school… it helped me sharpen my craft and skills as an artiste. I feel blessed to be part of this iconic show,” said the actor of Roop – Mard Ka Naya Swaroop.
Today, Shashank is looking forward to Balika Vadhu as an audience. “My father actually said a very nice thing to me. He said, original Ramayan has its own charm. It’s the same with Balika Vadhu. It has the flavour of family values and rawness of village.”
