BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: The New Market police have arrested the seventh person, allegedly a BJP supporter, for raising the provocative ‘goli maro‘ slogan on his way to Amit Shah’s rally on Sunday in Kolkata. Till now, the Kolkata Police have arrested seven people for raising the controversial and provocative slogan at Shah’s rally. The police are checking the CCTV footage to identify more such violators.
On Sunday, BJP workers were found raising “goli maro” slogan enroute Shah’s Esplanade rally. The opposition parties have vehemently criticised the BJP government for supporting such an act. In fact, BJP Bengal to president Dilip Ghosh has no found no fault in raising such controversial slogans, which allegedly has triggered the Delhi violence. Meanwhile, netizens have come down heavily on Modi government for taking sides with those raising such provocative slogans.
West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh has extended support to the three party supporters, who were arrested for raising ‘goli maro’ slogan at Shah’s Kolkata rally on Sunday. Ghosh also said they will provide all legal help to the accused.
On the other hand, Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said those who raised such provocative slogan will not be spared. “I know that some people who had come to the BJP rally had raised ‘goli maro’ slogan. It is illegal. In Delhi, BJP leaders who raised such provocative slogans were not arrested. But this is Kolkata. I have got those three BJP workers arrested,” she said.
