BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: A senior official of the rank of officer-in-charge posted with the Kolkata port division has tested for coronavirus on Friday. The officer is admitted to MR Bangur Hospital.
An IPS officer posted at Lalbazar said that the corona-positive officer was on leave for the last 10 days on medical grounds. “So, there is no chance of any kind of transmission to any person or police personnel though him. On Thursday, he went to MR Bangur on his own as he had developed some symptoms for the last two days. He wasted no time and got admitted there. Today, his report for coronavirus came positive. Since he had reached the hospital on time, we hope he will be fine and will resume duty soon,” said the officer.
The police officer also added that the authorities have no plan to send anyone to quarantine from the police station due to the said corona-positive officer’s prolonged absence from work. But his family members have been sent to quarantine.
He further said that one junior officer from the same division but from another police station has also been admitted. However, his report is yet to come.
