BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: A senior police officer of the Pragati Maidan police station in Kolkata tested coronavirus positive on Sunday. The cop was admitted to a private hospital on Saturday after he displayed COVID-like symptoms. Police authorities have now sanitized the police station.
The additional commissioner of police, DP Singh, visited the police station on Sunday as a morale-boosting exercise and to make enquiries about the incident.
A sanitizer tank was brought to the police station to disinfect every nook and corner of the police station and its surrounding areas.
A few dys back, another senior police officer from the Garden Reach police station and a sub-inspector posted at the Bartala PS were found to be corona positive. Both were initially admitted to the MR Bangur institute but were later admitted to a private hospital Salt Lake. Sources said, both the officers were recovering.
On Sunday, two doctors at the Peerless Hospiral on EM Bypass also tested positive for the virus. One of them has been admitted to Peerless while the other has been sent to a quarantine centre. Authorities at Peerless are now trying to get in touch with hospital staff who came in contact with the teo doctors.
