BH CORRESPONDENT, Mumbai: We have loved Seema Pahwa as Ayushmann Khurrana’s mother-in-law in films such as Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bareilly Ki Barfi, and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. And now, Pahwa will be seen making her directorial debut with Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi, which stars Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak, Konkona Sen Sharma, Parambrata Chatterjee, Vinay Pathak, Vikrant Massey, and Manoj Pahwa among others.
Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi revolves around the Bhargava family that comes together for 13 days to perform the Tehrvi function after the head of the family – Bauji (Ram Prasad Bhargava) passes away. The film features a spectacular ensemble cast of Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak, Konkona Sen Sharma, Parambrata Chatterjee, Vinay Pathak, Vikrant Massey, and Manoj Pahwa among others. The film will hit the theatres on January 1, 2021.
“I am very happy that my film is the first release of 2021 in cinemas across India. The story came from my own personal experience – my father’s demise many years ago when our family got united. Since then, this story has been running in my head. Jio Studios and Drishyam Films have believed in my vision for which I am grateful. Now the film is over to the audience,” she said.
Ram Prasad ki Tehrvi is a family dramedy set in a middle class north Indian family of five children. Upon the father’s demise, a series of events laden with wry humour unfold at the funeral which shows the interpersonal relationships in the family. Balancing traditions, obligations & family finances, the widowed mother realises the intricacies of her husband’s philosophies of life and wants to inculcate & pass on those values to the world.
