Nargis passed away on May 3, 1981 after battling with pancreatic cancer. However, she couldn’t see the release of his son’s debut film Rocky, which released on May 7, 1981. The film which also had Sanjay’s father Sunil Dutt in a guest appearance, went onto become a blockbuster but till date Sanjay regrets that his mother couldn’t see his first film.
Though Nargis is most remembered for her performance in Academy Awards-nominated Mother India, she had given us stupendous films like Shree 420, Awaara, Raat Aur Din, Lajwanti and more.
