BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: It was a busy Friday afternoon for Rituparna Sengupta. Singapore had Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced schools, and workplaces other than essential services and key economic sectors will remain shut for one month starting April 7 to contain the spread of COVID-19. Rituparna, who is now with her family — husband Sanjay Chakraborty, son Ankan and daughter Risona Niya in Singapore — said it is the time to stay together and instead of being jittery, one should stay spirited. “I know we are all in home quarantine, and feel trapped inside the four walls, but at this point of time, our home is the safest place on earth. So, we should all remain at home, keep ourselves clean and wash our hands frequently,” says the Parcel actress.

“We had only heard of cholera pandemic, or Spanish flu but did we ever imagine that we will live to experience a pandemic. We have experienced natural calamities, and we have braved them. I am sure we will overcome COVID-19 too. We haven’t been able to invent a vaccination, but at this point of time, we should come together and help each other especially those who are daily wagers and the needy. It’s not the time to think about the amount we contribute… it’s the gesture that matters. Let it be Rs 1, or Rs 2… Little drops of water make a mighty ocean. It’s a global emergency… so, the onus is on us to come forward and contribute. It’s our time to stay together and defeat this coronavirus,” says Rituparna Sengupta.
