BH CORRESPONDENT, Mumbai: Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and Bollywood actors like Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, among others on Tuesday pledged to donate money to PM-CARES fund and CM relief funds aimed at combating the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
The legendary singer announced on Twitter that she was donating Rs 25 lakh to the Chief Minister”s Assistance Fund as part of her “duty to help your government during this difficult time”.

Priyanka, along with popstar-husband Nick Jonas, donated an undisclosed amount to 10 charities including Prime Minister”s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES), UNICEF, Goonj, Doctors Without Borders, No Kid Hungry, and SAG-AFTRA.
Taking to Twitter, the Quantico star said these organisations are doing “amazing work” by helping those impacted by the COVID19 outbreak.

Priyanka urged people to come forward and do their bit.
“Thank you for everything you are doing. They need your support too, and we would implore you to donate as well. I have linked to each org with a swipe up in my stories… no donation is too small. Together we can help the world beat this,” Priyanka wrote.
Meanwhile, Nick also said the idea behind highlighting these organisations was to spread awareness.
“In these uncertain times, Pri and I want to bring awareness organisations we’ve donated to and are doing so much to help people all over the world. We are continuing to pray for everyone affected by #Covid19 and hope that everyone is doing their part to help flatten the curve!” Nick wrote.
Alia Bhatt pledged her contribution to the PM-CARES Fund and the Chief Minister”s Relief Fund (Maharashtra).
“At a time of great difficulty, while the nation is in lockdown, the central and state governments are working tirelessly to combat COVID-19. I salute the efforts of all those on the frontlines who are putting themselves at risk so the rest of us stay safe,” she wrote in a statement on Twitter.

Vicky Kaushal said he was contributing Rs 1 crore to PM-CARES and Maharashtra Chief Minister”s Relief Fund.

In an Instagram post, Katrina Kaif, who is reportedly going around with Vicky these day, said she has contributed money to both, Maharashtra Chief Minister’s relief fund and PM-CARES fund.
Sharing a picture which had the logo of PM-CARES and Chief Minister’s Relief Fund Maharashtra on Instagram, Katrina wrote. “I pledge to donate to the PM CARES fund and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund Maharashtra. Heartbreaking to see the hardship and suffering this pandemic has unleashed in the world.
Love Aaj Kal actress Sara Ali Khan also announced on Instagram to donate to the Chief Minister Reief Fund Maharashtra and PM-CARES. She wrote, “Time to do a good deed. Stay in and help those in need! Your contributions will protect and feed. I urge you to support, I request, I plead.
