BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah lashed out at Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee alleging that she is against Dalits and only Bangladeshi infiltrators are her favourite, during his speech at Shaheed Minar Ground in Kolkata on Sunday.
“Mamata Didi why are you against Dalits? Why are you against those Hindus who were religiously persecuted in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan? Only Bangladeshi infiltrators are your favourite,” Shah said.
After BJP government introduced Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to provide citizenship to Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, Mamata was one of the opposition leaders who brutally opposed CAA. She led many rallies to protest against CAA since the law excluded Muslims.
Shah again stated that the CAA law will not snatch anyone’s citizenship. He took a dig at Mamata saying she is playing vote bank politics. “TMC is scaring people of Bengal that they need documents to prove their citizenship. She is misleading people for vote bank. Only Bangladeshi infiltrators are your favourite. These all are vote bank politics,” Shah said. Shah also accused Mamata of burning trains and instigating riot to oppose CAA.
Shah was in the city to launch BJP’s campaign– Aar Noy Annay (no more injustices) – to counter TMC’s ‘Didi Ke Bolo (Tell Didi)’ keeping eyes in the 2021 Bengal Assembly polls. He also assured that his party would garner two-third majority in the upcoming polls.
However, the crowd was far less than the number of people who thronged Narendra Modi’s rally just before the Lok Sabha elections last year.
