BH CORRESPONDENT, New Delhi: A one-and-a-half-month-old baby has died of coronavirus infection at a hospital in Delhi, officials said on Sunday. The baby died at Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital attached to the Centre-run Lady Hardinge Medical. The surveillance team is tracking down the contacts.
According to the Union health ministry’s website the coronavirus cases climbed to 15,712 in the country and 507 people have lost their lives to the disease. Meanwhile, 2,230 people have been cured or discharged so far.
Maharashtra recorded 3,651 cases and 211 deaths. However, 365 people have also cured from the disease in the state. Meanwhile, on Saturday, the number of people infected with COVID-19 rose to 117 today in Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum. More bad news came to the state on Saturday morning when 21 sailors of the Indian Navy in Mumbai tested positive for coronavirus. The sailors have been quarantined at a naval hospital in the city. This is the first set of coronavirus cases being reported in the Navy.
Delhi has 1,893 coronavirus infections, and 42 deaths. Tamil Nadu, which accounts for most of the ‘red zones’, has the third-highest number of cases at 1,372. The southern state has reported 15 COVID-19 deaths.
Telangana has 809 cases, Uttar Pradesh continues to register a higher number of positive cases and now the number stands at 969 with 14 deaths and 86 cured. Kerala has 400 cases with only three deaths.
