BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee on Monday announced the formation of a Global Advisory Board comprising Nobel laureate Abhijit Binayak Bandyopadhyay, Dr Saroj Sarkar, Dr Abhijit Chowdhury and Dr Sukumar Mukhopadhyay. The expert panel will advise the state government regarding on steps to be taken to handle the post-lockdown economic and health scenarios.
“We are doing our level best to find appropriate steps to be taken to combat the disease,” said the Chief Minister on Monday at Nabanna. According to her, till now, 61 people have tested positive and recovering in hospitals. Thirteen people have been cured till now and have gone home. The condition of the 12 patients at Beliaghata ID Hospital are stable. There are 17 COVID-19 positive patients in this hospital.
The CM once again said that the central government has not sanctioned money to combat COVID-19. “We demanded 5 lakh pieces of N95 masks but the central government has supplied us only 10,000 so far. We have placed order for 7,92,000 N95 masks. Till now we have received 78,500 of them. We had placed order of 20,000 thermal guns but we have received only 5,000,” the chief minister said.
