BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata:
In the past one week as India struggle to stay indoors and battled with the deadly coronavirus, which has now claimed 47 lives and infected 1403 countrymen, Bengali actor Abir Chatterjee
has been continuously raising awareness about the disease. And his posts on social media have been extremely reflective, meaningful and pragmatic.
Just like the message he shared on Instagram on April Fool’s Day. Now, with world is struggling to contain coronavirus pandemic, the death toll increasing everyday, is this the time for the pranks? And the Durgeshgorer Guptodhon has hit the bull’s eye with his latest Instagram post. “Tomorrow being 1st april, whoever cracks a joke on or related to Corona will be blocked or deleted from my contact/friendlist..Sincere apologies in advance!,” he wrote. And it is a strong message and a right one.
Of course, those who knows the Byomkesh Bakshi actor knows he likes to joke around and is a fun-loving person, but then not at the cost of a pandemic. And sharing the post on Instagram, he captioned it,” I know humour is healthy but not when it mocks a #pandemic!#covid_19 #coronavirus #notajoke.”

His Shahjahan Regency co-star Parambrata Chatterjee commented, “Ditto! Second you!.”
The Aami Joy Chatterjee actor also urged all to save water and food during the lockdown period. He has also requested not to hoard essentials and remain in touch with each other via video call. The Agantuk actor has urged the netizens to watch web series, films or listen to music during the quarantine period.
And like Abir, Uronchondi actress Sudiptaa Chakraborty, who is very active on social media these days, especially for sharing the dance videos of her daughter, urged people not to share such insensitive message on April Fool’s Day given the world is fighting the global COVID-19 pandemic. Sudiptaa is also one of the Tollywood actresses who is positing updates on COVID-19 on a daily basis. During home quarantine, it is difficult for parents to keep their kids under control. But Sudiptaa has managed to keep her daughter Shahida busy. At times she paints, sings and most of the time she dances. And the Jyesthoputro actress becomes the videographer. Now, here we must tell you that Shahida is a real talent and her dance videos are real cute and have become a favourite among the netizens.
Meanwhile, according to an article in New York Post, even Google will skip its traditional April Fools’ Day jokes and pranks across its platforms due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Ahaa Re director Ranjan Ghosh also made a similar request on social media. The filmmaker, who shares regular update on COVID-19, makes a valid point. Amid lockdown, the number of positive cases in India are on the rise. According to data from the Health Ministry and State governments, COVID-19 has claimed 41 lives, and 1403 people have tested positive for the coronavirus. In Bengal, four are dead, and 37 people are COVID-19 positive in the state till now.
