New Delhi: Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi on Friday alleged that the lawyers representing the convicts (AP Singh) had challenged her that Nibhaya convicts will never be hanged.
After a Delhi court on Friday postponed the execution of death warrants of the four convicts – Pawan Gupta, Vinay Kumar Sharma, Akshay Kumar, and Mukesh Kumar Singh – in the 2012 Delhi Nirbhaya case until further orders, Devi was in tears. “AP Singh has challenged me. He said there would be no hanging,” she said as tears rolled down her cheeks.
Devi said she has been waiting for justice for her daughter for seven years now. “I feel extremely hurt when a lawyer who is representing the convicts challenged me that they will never be hanged,” she said.
In fact, Devi went onto mentioned how the convicts are taking advantage of the legal system. However, though she said her “hopes are dashed” but she will “fight till convicts are hanged.”
“I will continue my fight. The government will have to execute the convicts,” said Devi.
Four Nirbhaya convicts were supposed to be hanged on the morning of February 1 at Tihar Jail.
