CHANDAN B MALLIK, Kolkata: For 2020, Maruti Suzuki has reworked its popular Dzire sedan to not only make it BS VI complaint but also make it more competitive as rivals like Hyundai, Honda introduce newer models in the segment. Two variants — Lxi and ZXi+ — will be offered.
Introducing the all-new Dzire, Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “With over 55% market share in its segment, Dzire is the preferred sedan of over 20 lakh customers. The facelift Dzire gets a new bumper and grille design while the car’s profile remains more or less the same. For the interior, the layout is familiar and it now comes with faux wood trims. Driver gets twin-pod meter cluster with a new 4.2-inch coloured TFT multi-information display and automatic cruise control feature. The stand out feature in the cabin is the 7.0-inch TFT touchscreen infotainment system that comes with the brand’s SmartPlay Studio.
Other features include LED projector headlamps with DRLs, LED combination taillamps, key-sync auto foldable door mirrors and precision cut dual-tone alloy wheels.
Under the bonnet is a new new K-Series, Dual Jet, Dual VVT BS-VI compliant 88.5hp normally-aspirated 1.2-litre petrol engine that comes with a higher compression ratio and better fuel efficiency rated at 23.26 km/L in models with manual transmission. The facelift Dzire will be available with both manual and automatic transmission options. The automatic transmission variants get electronic stability program and hill-hold functions as well. The older Diesel engines have been dropped and will not be available in the new Dzire.
Prices start at Rs 5.89 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Lxi variant going up to Rs 8.80 lakh (ex-showroom) for the ZXi+ variant.
