BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: Finally, Tollywood actors Jeet and Mimi Chakraborty, who were shooting in London for their Bengali film Baazi, landed in Kolkata on Wednesday morning. The lead actors had to cut short their trip and return to the country after the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare banned the entry of passengers from UK, Turkey and EU countries from March 18 -31 due to coronavirus outbreak.
On returning to Kolkata, Jeet, Mimi and Biswanath Basu had to go through thermal screening where they tested negative. The actors, especially Mimi and Jeet will be in self-quarantine for a few days.
Jeet, who was seen sporting a mask and a black leather jacket, said he didn’t face any hiccups while shooting in the UK. However, they had to curtail their trip given the new travel advisory from Government of India. “At this point of time, we all need to take care. I will also be in self-quarantine,” said the Awara actor.
Mimi, who a transit at Dubai while returning from UK, was appalled to see such an empty airport there due to COVID-19 outbreak. “I have been going to Dubai for so long but I have never seen such a near empty airport. It was scary,” said the actress and Jadavpur MP. Mimi also said that she would be on a mandatory self-quarantine for at least seven days. “We did not face any problem while shooting in London. But then, this is a global crisis and I am sure we all will fight this together,” said the Dracula Sir actress. Mimi had left for London on March 13 to shoot for Anshuman Pratyush’s film. Anshuman and his crew had returned to Kolkata on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, there is a shutdown of shooting of Bengali films, TV serials and web series till March 30. The cinema halls are also closed down in the state till March 31 due to coronavirus scare.
