BH CORRESPONDENT, New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the updated Ignis compact urban CUV. In Suzuki’s line-up, the Ignis is the second model after Baleno that has been prepared under the ‘SUZUKI NEXT 100’ plan. Suzuki had unveiled the Ignis at the 2016 Paris Motor Show as its new global compact crossover offering.
The model that was also showcased at the recently concluded 2020 Auto Expo in Greater Noida now features an updated front end which includes redesigned new grille and front bumper. Other notables include revised fog lamp housing without the chrome bezels. Overall, the idea is to smarten up the existing package without tampering its strong fundamentals. As a result, its the detailing that has received most attention from the designers.
While most of the interior accoutrements remain unchanged, the 7.0in touchscreen gets Maruti’s latest SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, with software that includes voice command recognition and on-board navigation. Maruti is also offering S-Connect connectivity suite as options.
The Ignis has been updated with the BS6 compliant 1.2-litre petrol engine that develops 82 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque when paired with a 5-speed manual and automatic transmission.
Besides the existing colour pallete, Maruti has added two new colour options.
The incoming model is being offered at a starting price of Rs 4.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and tops out at Rs 7.19 lakh and will be available from Nexa outlets.
