BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: On Thursday, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee set out to sensitize people of Moulali and Behala. She urged the people to maintain the lockdown norms and though she understands they are facing a lot of difficulties, she asked them to bear with it for a few days. In the last two days, she had been visiting several areas of Kolkata like Park Circus, Rajabazar, Mathpur, Khidderpore, Ballygunge and Garden Reach and asking people to stay at home.
Today, she reached Moulali crossing at around 3.30 pm. From there, her convoy set off for Behala where she reached around 4.22 pm. Her convoy stopped at Chowrasta crossing, a place with huge population density. Both the places she visited today had seen several corona positive patients. So Mamata made sure that people did not panic and urged them to take all precautions to stop the spread of the virus.
She said, “I urge you to stay indoors and not come out unless there is a real emergency. You should always wear a mask. I am only worried about my citizens and hence I am visiting all the places in the city to sensitize them. I am not afraid if I become corona positive. But what is more important to me is the well-being of my people.”
Meanwhile, the state government on Thursday has directed the private hospitals to provide free treatment to coronavirus patients. However, these private hospitals will be reimbursed for the cost of the treatment.
