BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: Mamata Banerjee will meet Amit Shah for the first time since the introduction of the CAA on Friday. Eastern Zonal Council is meeting in Bhubaneswar today. The political parties are keeping a close watch on the meeting to be held today.
The 24th meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council will begin at New Convention Center at the State Secretariat Lok Sabha premises in Bhubaneswar at 10am on Friday. This is the first since Amit Shah became the Union Home Minister. Mamata Banerjee had to face the grievances of some of the members of the ruling party of the Center while attending the administrative meeting called by the Center.
Congress leader in Lok Sabha asked Mamata Banerjee to boycott the meeting. The central government has said that the Chief Minister can demand increased monitoring in Jharkhand, Orissa border to prevent Maoist problems. Mamata Banerjee arrived in Odisha on Wednesday to attend the meeting. On that day, Mamata offered puja for world peace at Puri Jagannath Temple. Mamata Banerjee is against the CAA. On the other hand, Amit Shah is committed to implementing the CAA. This is their first encounter between the two after the implementation of the CAA. The entire political diaspora is looking forward to whether the two are going to have a separate meeting.
Meanwhile, soon after the news of the meeting between the two became public, netizens as well as political leaders from different political parties including CPIM leader Sujon Chakraborty are not happy. They have either expressed their views and some have even gone forward asking Miss Banerjee not to meet Shah.
