BH CORRESPONDENT, Malda: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerje is known for her connect with the masses. Her simple lifestyle has inspired her admirers and won her new fans. While touring, the Bengal CM is known to stop by wayside tea shops for a cup of the brew or visiting homes of the poor, listening to their grievances over lunch.
But people of Gajol in Malda district were in for a surprise on Thursday when Mamata Bannerje started dancing with tribals to drumbeats during a programme in the area. The chief minister announced many welfare projects for scheduled caste and scheduled tribes.
Seeing the tribals swaying to drumbeats, Mamata suddenly took the field ans started swaying to the beats of Santhali music. The women gifted her a traditional scarf which Mamata Bannerjee wore during the dance.
Security personnel were temporarily taken aback seeing the chief minister reaching out to the tribals breaking the security cordon.
