BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee lashed out at BJP government on Monday and said that the Delhi violence was a “planned genocide”. She has also slammed Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the violence in the national capital, which later turned into “communal riot”.
“Delhi’s violence was a planned genocide. A state-sponsored genocide. Police was silent, BJP was silent, AAP was silent, everybody was silent then what else you would call it,” she said.
After the huge success of ‘Didi Ke Bolo’ campaign, Mamata, who was present at Netaji Indoor Stadium to launch TMC’s latest campaign ‘Banglar Gorbo Mamata’ (Bengal’s pride Mamata) – a 75 day outreach programme’ to reach out to the the people of the state — the CM also spoke about why there is no necessity of the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). She said that CAA won’t give citizenship rather snatch it, a sharp deviation from what Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said at Esplanade rally on Sunday.
“What was the need of CAA? Those who came after 1947 and 1971 are already Indian citizen. Over 700 people are missing from Delhi and more than 50 are died. More than 300 people have lost their live in Assam, UP and Delhi over CAA protests altogether. Now, are you planning to give citizenship to the dead bodies?,” Mamata said.
“They gifted blood river, communal riots and murder in the name of NRC,” she added.
Meanwhile, as Parliament reconvened for the second leg of the Budget Session, Rajya Sabha was adjourned on Monday till 2 pm as opposition MPs rose in protest accusing the government of inaction in controlling communal riots in Delhi.
On the other hand, Mamata also broached the topic BJP workers who raised ‘goli maro’ slogan at Shah’s rally on Sunday. She said the legal action will be taken against them and no one will be spared. Three BJP workers, who have raised the ‘goli maro’ slogan in Kolkata have already been arrested on Monday.
