BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: The West Bengal home department has decided to suspend all internet services at the 42 blocks to prevent question paper leak during the Madhyamik examination that begins on Tuesday. Last year, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education was flooded with complaints of circulation of question paper in the social media much before the test began.
The blocks affected fall in the districts of Malda, Murshidabad, Coochbihar, North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur and Jalpaiguri. According to the home department most of the questions were leaked on social media from these areas.
As in the previous year, the 10 lakh-plus candidates will not be allowed inside examination centres with mobile phone, calculator, bag and smart watches. “If any candidate is caught with these items his candidature will be cancelled,” said Board president Kalyanmoy Gangopadhyay.
More cops would be deployed on the roads to ensure smooth flow of traffic and ensure students reach their exam centres well on time. The Board has decided that students residing on either side of the Tallah bridge are not inconvenienced by the demolition work under way and will now sit at centres close to their homes.
