BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: The sports ministry in its latest advisory to all the sports bodies across the country has asked to cancel all the international sports tournament and arrange the various sports events in empty stadium due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The ongoing football matches of ISL and I league will now be played in empty stadiums. In the advisory issued by the sports ministry it has been advised to arrange all the football and cricket matches in the empty stadium. “You are advised to adhere to the advisory issued by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and ensure that no public gathering takes place in any sporting event. In the event the sporting event can not be avoided, the same could be done without allowing gathering of people, including spectators,” said the advisory.
In this context the state sports department will meet AIFF and CAB at Nabanna tomorrow to discus the issue of arranging various sports events in Kolkata. On Sunday, Mohunbagan will play I league’s match with East Bengal at ASalt Lake Stadium. Similarly. India versus South Africa match will be played Eden Gardens. In both cases the match would be played in empty stadium. The ISL final between ATK and Chennai FC would be held in empty stadium in Goa.
