BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: Is it a mere coincidence that mom-to-be Koel Mallick will be seen playing a mother in Soukarya Ghosal’s new Bengali film Rawkto Rawhoshyo? Well, before you let your imaginations run wild, Soukarya updates us that he had shot for the film way back in November 2018. So yes, now that Koel is preggers is, in fact, only a coincidence. And here’s some good news — the film will release on April 10.
But then, did you notice the photograph above where Koel is starring at an empty crib which has a red sweater? The sweater belongs to Swarnaja (the character Koel essays in the film) and it has an important role. Rawkto Rawhoshyo is an emotional thriller and no, we are not spilling the beans more. All we can say is that the movie follows the journey of Swarnaja —radio jockey — who once receives a strange phone call from an unknown caller on her live show. The phone call changes her life and forces her to chase and find out a hidden truth. Strangely, this truth is connected to Swarnaja’s childhood.
Meanwhile, Soukarya, who grabbed eyeballs with her Bengali debut feature Rainbow Jelly, is happy to be back with his second film after a hiatus. “Both Koel and me wanted the film to release in 2019. But then she got busy with Sagardwipey Jawker Dhan, Mitin Mashi and Bony. Then I started shooting for Bhoot Pori. So, we postponed the release of Rawkto Rawhoshyo and now, it’s releasing in April,” he says.
Produced by Surinder Films, Rawkto Rawhoshyo will hit the theatres on April 10. Also the fact that the film releases in Koel’s birthday month makes it all the more special for the cast and crew.
Soukarya promises Koel’s fans that the actress hasn’t been seen in this avatar before. “Once the audience watch the film, they will know none but only Koel could have played Swarnaja,” he says.
Meanwhile, Koel also shared the teaser poster on Twitter.
