BH CORRESPONDENT, New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will not be a part of US First Lady Melania Trump’s government school tour during her visit to the national capital. According to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sources, they have been dropped from the plan where they were likely to accompanying Melania during the event.
In the earlier plan, Kejriwal and Sisodia were scheduled to meet the US first lady at the south Delhi government high school. They were asked to give a tour of the school to her and brief her “happiness class”, one of the programmes of the Delhi government to reduce stress among schoolchildren.
Melania will visit the school as a special guest on the second day of US President Donald Trump’s India visit. In her one-hour-long visit she will also spend some time with the students.
Meanwhile, AAP alleged that it was the BJP-led Centre’s plan to drop the two top Delhi leaders from the VVIP event.
“We have got a request from them (from the US embassy). We have told them that if they want to come, they are welcome. But I can’t tell you details about the school,” Sisodia said on Saturday after his visit to a Delhi government school in Patparganj.
According to the new plan, Melania’ solo visit will take place simultaneously with Trump’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The US president will arrive in Ahmedabad on February 24. He will also visit Agra. Trump’s daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared will also accompany him on this tour.
