BH CORRESPONDENT, Mumbai: This is not the first time that Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan has been called a misogynist. He has been part of films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, which had dialogues where women are looked down upon. And this time, the Love Aaj Kaal actor, who was been constantly raising an awareness about coronavirus on social media, found himself in a controversy when he shared an Instagram video where he was disciplining her sister Kritika Tiwari for not making delicious roti. Now, the netizens weren’t happy with his attitude towards her sister and called him a misogynistic. They also claimed that the actor was promoting domestic violence.
Recently, Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma, Madhuri Dixit Nene and many celebs have come together to record a video to spread the message of curbing domestic violence amid nationwide COVID-19 lockdown. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has said that women’s helplines have reported extremes rises in distress calls.
However, after the controversy, Kartik has deleted the video. The actor has donated Rs 1 crore to the PM-CARES fund in the fight against coronavirus. “It is the absolute need of the hour to rise together as a nation. Whatever I am, whatever money I’ve earned, is only because of the people of India; and for us I am contributing Rs. 1 crore to the PM-CARES Fund. I URGE all my fellow Indians also to help as much as possible,” he tweeted.
