BH CORRESPONDENT, Mumbai: The controversial Karni Sena has done it again! But this army seemingly fights not injustices or foreign enemies but the assumed slights on a historical figure’s character.
The figure in question is the heroic Prithviraj Chauhan, on whom the movie starring Akshay Kumar is being made. About 100 members of the outfit, led by its national president Mahipal Singh Makrana, created havoc while the film was being shot in Jamwaramgarh village near Jaipur.
The issue of contention is that facts will not be tampered with and that the character of Prithviraj should not be shown in a different light just to bank up the entertainment quota. They asked the director Chandra Prakash, to stop the shooting, but he assured them that facts are not being tampered.
However, Karni Sena has demanded a written assurance along with the fact that the script be shared with them. “We held discussions with the director, Chandra Prakash, regarding the film’s script today. We told him that no tampering with historic facts will be tolerated,” said Makrana. “Prithviraj Chauhan should not be portrayed as a lover in the film. The director has assured us that there is no such thing in the movie but we want a written assurance.”
Karni Sena had previously stirred trouble for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Padmaavat.
