BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: Calcutta University (CU) authorities on Thursday denied permission to JNU student union president Aishe Ghosh to address a rally inside CU premises. The SFI had organised the meet and had invited Ghosh to make a speech.
On Wednesday, too, Aishe was not allowed to take out a procession in Durgapur, her home town. Police said this was due to the movement of the chief minister.
The SFI had called a meeting inside the College Street campus of CU in protest against the CAA and NRC. But the university authorities did not allow the gathering. Later, the SFI held the rally outside the university campus gates, where Aishe hit out against the BJP for CAA and NRC.
Trinamool Chatra Parishad vice-president Manindra Mondal said SFI did not take prior permission to hold the rally inside the campus. “Aishe Ghosh opposed and protested against the outsiders who had entered JNU campus. Here she is also an outsider and that was why the university did not allow the SFI to hold the rally inside CU,” Mondal said.
Later, the JNU student leader participated in an anti-CAA procession.
