BH CORRESPONDENT, New Delhi: Delhi Police Thursday arrested a PhD student of Jamia Milia Islamia for his alleged role in the violence, which apart northeast Delhi in February. The arrested student, Miran Haider, is also the head of the Delhi youth wing of jailed politician Lalu Yadav’s RJD, reported NDTV.
In February, the northeast part of Delhi was rocked with violence which claimed at least 53 lives and several got injured. The violence continued for over three days when a clash broke out between groups supporting and opposing the new Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). At that time, US President Donald Trump and his family were on a two-day visit to India in Ahmedabad.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s suspended leader Tahir Hussain was arrested last month in connection with the violence. His name had cropped up in connection with the death of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) employee Ankit Sharma, who was found dead in Northeast Delhi. Crates of stones and petrol bombs were allegedly found on the rooftop of the suspended AAP leader.
