BH CORRESPONDENT, Mumbai: Losing a loved one is always taxing on the emotional health of a person, but when that is one’s own mother, the grief is unbearable. One keeps going back to old photographs and memories, trying to keep alive the warmth of the person by tugging at memories.
Janhvi Kapoor, who lost her mother Sridevi two years ago, has dug up an age-old black and white photograph where she is seen cuddling her mother on a couch. A small kid then, her wide-mouthed smile is outshined only by Sridevi’s mesmerizing radiance. Taking to Instagram to share this nostalgic picture on her mother’s second death anniversary, Janhvi wrote, “Miss you everyday”.

The heartthrob of an entire generation, the ‘First Female Superstar’ of Indian cinema, Sridevi, started her career as a four-year-old child artiste in the Tamil film Kandhan Karunai (1967). At the height of her career, Sridevi gave memorable performances in films like Mr. India, Lamhe, Chandni. She will also be remembered for her roles in movies like English Vinglish and Mom, which are among the last films she acted in, while Zero, where she had a cameo, was released after her death.
Sadly, she could not see her daughter’s debut in the romantic movie Dhadak. However, with genes such as hers, Janhvi is sure to carry the successful mantle forward. She has bagged good roles in some upcoming movies, including the Karan Johar directed Dostana 2 where she will be seen alongside Kartik Aaryan. Other upcoming films are the biopic Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and the horror comedy flick Roohi Afzana.
