BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: It’s not uncommon for people to use laughter or humour as a coping or a defense mechanism in times of extreme crisis or grief. At times, it helps to ease the pain and reduces stress. At a time when the entire nation is in home quarantine, it’s only natural to feel depressed especially when the number of coronavirus patients are on the rise. It has crossed the 1,000-mark and more than 25 people are dead in our country. Anxiety is sure to seep into every single cell of our body. Here, taking resort to humour matters a lot. And we can take a cue from Kidnap actress Rukmini Maitra. At least, we can give it a try.
A recent social media post of hers will make you crack. Now, how often have you heard about grandfathers fighting for our Independence. That’s the way, they saved the world. But in our case, we are saving the world by just staying at home. Yes, in the case of coronavirus, all we need to do is stay at home. The more we are in the confinement of our homes, the more safe we are. Sharing the hilarious post, the Password actress accompanied it with fun caption too, “People post 2020..Come on! I just had to!SO! COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS, STAY HOME AND DO YOUR BIT!!! .”

As soon as the lockdown started, Rukmini had also given an extensive list of how to utilise this quarantine period. From growing a plant, reading a book, meditating, yoga, cleaning the room, watching the sunrise with the family and merely talking to the person sitting next to you – Rukmini made sure she has her list ready. And of course, not to keep the water running for 20 seconds if anyone is washing the hands. She also posted a very thoughtful message when she said that the lockdown will help people to converse with each other. It will help us to realise how is cooking the meals at home for us and be grateful for it.

Recently, we also got to know that Rukmini, who will soon be seen in Switzerland alongside Abir Chatterjee, loves playing chess and is spending a lot of time in this home quarantine on this game. She also revealed that she has a passion for collecting chessboard and we could understand that from the photograph of the beautiful chessboard she posted. Reminiscing of her childhood days when she used to play chess with her grandfather, Rukmini said that since in quarantine one cannot move around, a game of chess can be a good mental workout. “During this Quarantine maybe one can’t move around physically, but mentally one must keep moving. Mental workout keeps a check on one’s physical well being,” said the actress.
