BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: This year Durga Puja wouldn’t be usual with the coronavirus pandemic playing havoc with lives and livelihood. But still, the preparations for the festival have started if not on a large scale. And since Mahalaya ushers in the Debi Pakhsha, Mahisasur Mardini programmes on television has always been a key part of the festival. And this year, it is Bengali actress and TMC Jadavpur MP Mimi Chakraborty who would be playing Goddess Durga on Mahisasur Mardini on Star Jalsha. She revealed her look for the show on Tuesday.
Directed by Kamaleswar Mukherjee, this is the first time the Bojhena Se Bojhena actress will be seen playing Durga on the show.
Of course, Mimi sounded excited about the entire experience of shooting Mahisasur Mardini. “Apart from excitement, there was a different kind of pressure too because many other actresses have played Durga before me and with such perfection. It’s been a different kind of experience and I have tried to give my 100 per cent too,” said Mimi.
Mimi informed that this time the audience will get to see a few new things on the show. “We have incorporated actions too. There was a lot of pressure because we had to do two changes for the shoot within a single day. On top of that, there were fight and dance sequences, which were really difficult with so much of jewellery and a heavy costume. However, I am glad we pulled it off. I just hope that the audience like what we have done,” smiled the actress.
