BH CORRESPONDENT, Mumbai: Usually social media handles of female celebrities are flooded with generic ‘Happy Women’s Day’ messages on March 8, but some really take your breath away.
Malaika Arora said something that is truly wisdom. It can be applied beyond just women and is more a humanitarian message of positivity. “The happiest women are the ones who made a choice to love themselves wholly and truly. Women who chose to leave the past behind, worked on their self-esteem and put a high price tag on their self-esteem,” she wrote in the beautiful post she put up along with a smiling picture. “They realized that happiness is a personal choice and responsibility. They chose to be defined by their present, but not their pasts. They are happy because they don’t need validation from anyone.”
Kajol meanwhile put forth her gratitude to the women who raised her and taught her lessons in feminism.
Kalki Koechlin, meanwhile, put up a quirky message up along with a photograph of her holding her baby. She wrote, “May you look at yourself through the eyes of experience and celebration and not the objectification of the male gaze, may you learn the difference between well intentioned patriarchal advice and true feminist criticism.”
Manisha Koirala put up a strong post reminiscing about the time she portrayed a strong, independent female character in the film Akele Hum, Akele Tum, which broke gender norms.
Kangana Ranaut, known for her upfront boldness, put up a simple message that befits a fighter. She said, “As a woman, we don’t have to hope we get our due. We need to get up and get it ourselves.”
