BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah promised the people of West Bengal that he will transform the state into “Sonar Bangla” if BJP comes to power. Shah was speaking at a rally in Kolkata’s Shaheed Minar, where he launched a campaign – Aar Noy Annay (no more injustices) – to counter TMC’s ‘Didi Ke Bolo (Tell Didi)’ campaign.
“If people of Bengal give us five years, we will make it ‘Sonar Bangla (Land of Gold)’. Sonar Bangla will not be formed under Mamata Banerjee. Bring the BJP to power and in five years, we will make the dream come true. Mamata didi cannot stop us,” Shah said. He also added that his party will win two-thirds majority in the upcoming 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly polls.
During his address to the rally, Shah also mentioned about Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Ram Mandir and Article 370. “CAA will not snatch away anyone’s citizenship,” Shah said.
Talking about the new campaign, he said, “We are launching ‘Aar Noy Annay (no more injustices)’ campaign to defeat TMC’s misuse of power in the state.” He slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for injustice and violence in the state.
“Bengal is already behind when compared to other states in respect of employment and safety. This is because of Didi, the state has Rs 3,75,000 debt. Right now only BJP can save Bengal from TMC,” he added.
However, the crowd in the rally was not as expected it would be. There were several instances where Shah tried to raise ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and “Bharat Mata Ki Jay” slogans but the vibrations weren’t loud enough. Also, enroute Shah’s rally some BJP raised the slogan “desh ke gaddaron ko, goli maro sa***n ko”.
