BH CORRESPONDENT, Greater Noida: At the recently concluded 2020 Auto Expo, Force Motors Limited had revealed its BSVI two-door Gurkha SUV. Along with the bright metallic orange car, it was a heavily modified version of the Gurkha that caught a lot of attention from viewers.
From the exterior this green SUV looked pretty serious and capable. Modifications included widened tracks to accommodate oversized 17in alloys shodded with Maxxis Trepador off-road tyres, a lift kit to enhance ground clearance and heavy duty shock coil over shock absorbers. Other kit included widebody fender kits, a large bull bar, electric winch, snorkel unit, extra jerrycas for fuel, customised roof rack, LED lamps, rollover protection cage, among others.
If the idea was to convey the Gurkha is about serious business, then it sure was impressive as hell. The powertrain in this showpiece was stock, that is 2.6-litre four-cylinder, BS VI compliant diesel motor that churns out 88 bhp when mated to five-speed manual transmission. Since the SUV has rigid axles at both ends, it means there’s a provision in the transfer case to send power to all four wheels as and when required. Details of the select mechanism were not revealed.
For now, this is strictly a one-off concept and Force Motors management has to decide whether it wants to tap into the niche market in the country or not.
