BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: Five people from the same family from Debagram areas in Nadia district have tested COVID-19 positive on Friday, taking the total count to 15 in West Bengal. Among them there three children in the age group of 11 years, six years and nine month. The two others are 27-years-old and 45-year- old respectively.
They returned to Kolkata from Delhi on March 16 by flight. The doctors are suspecting that in Delhi the family came in contact with who had returned from London. In fact, the person, who is also COVID-19 positive, is presently admitted to a hospital in Delhi.
The family members developed flu-like symptoms on March 19 and were admitted to a district hospital. On Friday, the hospital got their swab test report which came positive. However, during the quarantine, the family came in contact with the neighbours too. The West Bengal government health officials have brought 20 people to Kolkata and now everyone will be tested. The officials are also inquiring who they had met during the quarantine period to identify the chain of transmission.
Meanwhile, the condition of the 66–year-old former Nayabad resident, who is admitted at Peerlesss Hospital has deteriorated. He has been put on ventilation. The doctors have informed that he is not responding to the treatment.
The person had travelled to Egra in East Midnapore to attend a marriage ceremony. In between, he went to Digha. Though he has no history of travelling abroad, the wedding ceremony which he attended in Egra had some guests from abroad.
