BH CORRESPONDENT, Mumbai: Model and actor Milind Soman, who sultry looks have had generations of women swooning, is trending on Twitter for very different reasons. In an excerpt from his book Made in India, Milind reveals that he had been a part of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) when he was a boy.
But he had a very different experience at the local shakha in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park than the present connotations that the outfit carries. “When I read today all the subversive, communal propaganda the media attributes to RSS shakhas, I am frankly baffled,” Milind wrote in a piece for The Print.
His father was part of RSS and a ‘proud Hindu’. “Baba was a great believer in the benefits that would accrue to a young boy, in terms of disciplined living, physical fitness and right thinking, from being part of the junior cadres of the RSS,” he said.
The most memorable part of his association with the RSS were the treks and camping trips that they would be taken to around Mumbai, which he thoroughly enjoyed with the three friends he made there.
Milind was also quite amused by the fact that he was trending on social media. Taking to Twitter, he posted, “Trending at 54 for an experience I had at the age of 10. wish it was about swimming, which was at the same time!”
The 54-year-old fitness enthusiast was recently in Kolkata for Pinkathon, a run for women.
