AGENCIES, Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday had registered an FIR against Bollywood Baby Doll singer Kanika Kapoor, who had tested positive for novel coronavirus. Kanika had behaved irresponsibly and attended several parties in Lucknow. Politicians like the BJP’s Vasundhara Raje, her son Dushyant Singh, an MP, who also attended the dinner, have gone into self-quarantine. The two have been tested negative for coronavirus. Trinamool Congress member Derek O’Brien, who sat beside Dushyant in an event, also went into self isolation in Delhi.
Police Commissioner Surjit Pandey said the FIR against Kanika was registered at Sarojini Nagar police station. “An FIR was lodged at the Sarojini Nagar police station under IPC Sections 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant),” he said.
Meanwhile, Apna Dal MP Anupriya Patel and BJP MP Varun Gandhi, who were sitting near Dushyant during the parliamentary events, have also gone into self isolation.
The Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan singer flew down from London March 15. Kanika’s father Rajiv Kapoor told Aaj Tak that she attended three parties after arriving in Lucknow from London. Taking to Instagram, Kanika wrote, “For the past four days I have had signs of flu. I got myself tested and it came positive for COVID-19. My family and I are in complete quarantine now and following medical advice on how to move forward. Contact mapping of people I have been in touch with is underway as well.”
