BH CORRESPONDENT, Panaji: Filmmaker Apurva Asrani, who won the National Award for editing Snip!, has taken to social media to share the dire circumstances faced by the people of Goa due to the ongoing countrywide lockdown.

He said that for three days, all shops in Goa are shut and there are no provisions or groceries, which means that people would be running out of food. This naturally is causing great distress. The writer of Aligarh also hoped that Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray would speak to his Goa counterpart Pramod Sawant about this.

He went even so far as to say that starvation would kill them before the virus did in his Twitter post, which read, “Matters have gotten desperate in #Goa. Not a single shop, grocery/provision store has been allowed to open for 3 days, inspite of assurances by @narendramodi. If we step out looking for bread, we are beaten by cops. Starvation will kill is before #coronavirus. @DrPramodPSawant”.

His follow up post however provided slight relief as it reflected a few shops had opened its door but ran out of supplies by 7 am, which points to the meagre supply of provisions in the state. “Most shops still shut around me in #Goa. Few that opened ran out of supplies by 7am. Grateful to manage eggs & bread. Requested crowd at store to maintain #socialdistancing & all complied. Herculean task for any Govt. Conscientious citizens must step up to help,” he tweeted.
