The doctor is an anesthesiologist, who has been admitted to the hospital and presently lodged at an isolation ward. The 59-year-old man, who is resident of Sheroraphuli, is admitted to the ICU of a private hospital.
After his test report was confirmed positive at NICED, the state health department is trying to identify hospital staff and patients who came in contact with him.
The good news is that the first three coronavirus positive patients tested negative on Sunday. These three are the son of the IAS officer, a woman from Habra and a youth from the Ballygunge area of the city.
Meanwhile, the 66-year-old former Coal India employee is recovering and his condition is stable but not out of danger. The two people who tested COVID-19 positive from Egra where the 66-year-old had gone to attend a wedding ceremony have been taken to the Beliaghata ID Hospital on Sunday for treatment.
