AGENCIES, New Delhi: Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who announced his retirement in June 2019, in a recent interview said that Sourav Ganguly supported him more as a captain than MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.
Yuvraj also said that although it was difficult to choose between Dhoni and Ganguly as to who was a best skipper, but he as a player had more memories under the leadership of ‘Dada’.
Yuvraj had earlier revealed that he was hurt by the treatment meted out to him as he looked to make a comeback into the Indian team.
“I have played under Sourav (Ganguly) and had a lot of support from him. Then Mahi (MS Dhoni) took over. It’s a difficult choice to make between Sourav and Mahi. I have more memories of time under Sourav because of the support he gave me. I didn’t have that kind of support from Mahi and Virat (Kohli),” Yuvraj was quoted in an interview by Sportstar.
Yuvraj had the backing of then-captain Ganguly, who nurtured the Punjab all-rounder and helped him develop into one of the most feared cricketers in the world.
Talking about COVID-19 pandemic, he said, “It’s heartbreaking to see so many people dying all over the world. It is spreading so fast. People, rather than panicking, should visit the official health sites (WHO and Union Health Ministry) to really understand what the disease is.”
