BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: The month of May will be a busy month for actor-producer Dev. Come May 1 and director Aniket Chattopadhyay’s Hobu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Mantri is all set to hit theatres. And then, on May 8, his film Tonic, which marks the debut of young Bengali filmmaker Avijit Sen, will release. And in both the cases, Dev is the producer.
On Sunday, Dev took to his social media to unveil the poster of Hobu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Mantri. A fairy tale starring Saswata Chatterjee, Kharaj Mukherjee and Arpita Chatterjee, the film is based on two stories of Dakhinaranjan Mitra Majumdar’s — Hobu Chandra Raja and Sarkarer Chhele.
As the poster suggests, Saswata will be seen as the king of Bombagarh, Arpita as his queen and Kharaj as the minister Gobuchandra. While making the film, Dev told us how he wanted to make a children film for a long time. In fact, Aniket was supposed to start working on a film on Subhashini Mishtry, but then Hobu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Mantri. And the moment Dev, who is not acting in the film, and his production house is behind the project, got moved by the very first narration.
“The moment I heard the story, I knew I wanted to make this film. And I am so happy we have been able to make this film. It has been made on a huge scale and it looks grand. I am glad the children will be able to enjoy it as much as the adults,” said Dev.
While sharing the poster on social media, too, Dev wrote how the film might tap and awaken the kid in us. The characters on the poster also have animated energy. “Here’s presenting to you yet another honest and heartfelt effort from @DEV_PvtLtd #HobuChandraRajaGobuChandraMantri only to help us al travel back to the time when we believed that Fairytales do exist! To tap and awake that child in us! Are you willing to Dream…Again? #HCRGCM,” Dev tweeted.
