BH CORRESPONDENT, New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday morning slammed the Modi government for its failure to control the ongoing large-scale clashes in Northeast Delhi. She also said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah must take responsibility for the violence in Delhi and resign.
“What was the Home Minister doing since last week? What was the Home Minister doing earlier this week? Why were the paramilitary forces not called in earlier when the Home Ministry saw the situation worsening,” Sonia stated at a press conference at the Congress headquarters in the capital. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other senior leaders also attended the meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) on Wednesday in Delhi.
“There is a conspiracy behind the violence, country also saw this during Delhi elections. Many BJP leaders made inciting comments creating an atmosphere of fear and hatred. The Centre and the Union Home Minister is responsible for the present situation in Delhi. The Union Home Minister should resign,” she said.
Sonia blamed both the Centre and the Arvind Kejriwal-led government, saying the administration did not take adequate steps on time to curb violence in the national capital.
“Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Centre are equally responsible for not activating the administration to reach out to the people to maintain peace and harmony,” she said.
