BH CORRESPONDENT, New Delhi: Soon after the landslide victory was predicted by the exit polls on Saturday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi is apprehending that efforts are being made to tamper the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM). Therefore, they have started guarding the strong rooms across Delhi.
AAP MP and senior leader Sanjay Singh has shared videos where a poll personnel was seen carrying an EVM alone. He had no guards at the time of carrying the EVM after the poll was over on Saturday. In another video shared by him, it was seen that a polling personnel was carrying an EVM towards the strong room without any security guard.
After the exit poll results were out on Saturday evening, which showed that AAP will return with a two-third majority in New Delhi, the AAP supporters had started celebrating the possible victory in Delhi assembly election. But then cautious Arvind Kejriwal met with his senior party leaders and election strategist Prashant Kishore.
Soon after the meeting, Kejriwal instructed his party workers to guard EVMs at all 30 strong rooms across Delhi so that no one could tamper with the EVMs to change the results. In the last parliamentary election, too, AAP had complained of EVM tampering.
